Description

Science through Scanning Probe Microscopy 2019 – Extended Version

November 21–22, 2019, Bologna, Italy

StSPM19EV

Nanosurf distributor Quantum Design Europe will be exhibiting at the event.

The Italian Society for Microscopical Sciences (SISM), in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Nanostructured Materials (ISMN) of the CNR and the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences (BiGeA) of the UniBo, organize the workshop "Science through Scanning Probe Microscopy 2019 – Extended Version (StSPM19EV)".

Every three-years, the event meets up Italian scientists working with Scanning Probe Microscopy (past editions in 2013 and 2016). This year StSPM is joined to the workshop "Scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy for mineral, biological and material sciences", organized by Prof. Giovanni Valdrè of BiGeA every two years, becoming StSPM19EV.

The workshop aims to illustrate the scientific progresses achieved in Italy thanks to SPM techniques. The scientific program will alternate sessions on "Materials Science" and "Life Science", highlighting how SPM contributes to such branches. This Extended Version includes two didactic lectures for degree/PhD students, accordingly to the educational approach of the "Scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy for mineral, biological and material sciences" workshop.

Talks of renowned scientists and established researchers will be mixed to talks of young researchers (PhD students and post-docs), giving them the opportunity to present their work in a stimulating and friendly environment. Talks and discussions will be in English.

The leading companies in SPM will present their latest instrumental innovations in both dedicated stands and a special session included in the scientific program.

The workshop is addressed to all professors, researchers, technicians and students interested in SPM microscopy, a fundamental tool for investigating the matter at the sub-micrometric, nanometric and atomic scale. Participants will receive an attendance certificate.

Nowadays the scientific program of StSPM19EV is full, so extra contributions will be accepted and presented as poster session.
